The return of the Vladimir and Donskoy Icons of the Mother of God has become one of the most important events in the life of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC). This was announced on April 4 by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia during a divine service at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.

"Probably one of the most important historical events is the return to the Church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God and the Don Icon of the Mother of God, which we now see here," RIA Novosti quoted the Patriarch as saying.
