The Second Western District Military Court sentenced a resident of Kostroma to 20 years in prison for high treason and participation in the activities of a terrorist organization. This was announced on April 4 by the FSB's Public Relations Center.

"Whoever does not belong to his Fatherland does not belong to humanity," the judge said, quoting Russian literary critic Vissarion Belinsky before the verdict was announced.

According to the agency, the convict, born in 1991, established contact with a representative of a Ukrainian terrorist organization banned in Russia through the Telegram messenger. He expressed his willingness to provide photos and videos, as well as other assistance.

The investigation found that, on the instructions of the curator, the man was engaged in the dissemination of information and propaganda materials, which were subsequently posted on the Internet resources of the Ukrainian formation. In addition, he was assigned to get a job at one of the industrial enterprises in the region.

According to the FSB, the suspect was detained at the stage of preparation for this assignment. The published footage also shows his confession, the agency writes.

On April 3, the Khabarovsk Territory Prosecutor's office reported that a court had sentenced a local resident to 16 years in a high-security penal colony for passing information about one of the city's facilities to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). It is noted that the 51-year-old man was also fined 400 thousand rubles.
