- The Russian Foreign Ministry called for an immediate end to strikes on the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran.
The attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities must be stopped immediately. This was announced on April 4 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in a comment published on the agency's website.
"The worst can still be avoided, but for this, attacks on nuclear facilities in Iran, including the Bushehr nuclear power plant, must be stopped immediately," the statement said.
The diplomat noted that Russia strongly condemns this act of aggression and expresses its condolences to the deceased employee of the station. She stressed that the Russian side is making every effort to involve the world community in the situation around Bushehr.
"These illegal and reckless actions are an indelible dirty stain on the international reputation of those who aim missiles at the Bushehr NPP," Zakharova added.
The head of the Rosatom State Corporation, Alexey Likhachev, said on the same day that the situation at the nuclear power plant was developing according to the most undesirable forecast. He noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin is closely monitoring the situation around the station.
On April 4, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) announced a new shelling of the Bushehr nuclear power plant by the United States and Israel. As a result of the blast wave and shrapnel, one of the auxiliary buildings of the NPP was damaged, and one of the employees of the station's physical security department was killed.
