- The Federation Council announced the undermining of the US authority due to the war in Iran
The actions of the United States during the conflict with Iran had a negative impact on the international credibility of the United States. This was announced on April 4 by Senator Alexei Pushkov.
"The authority of the United States has been significantly undermined by the Iranian war. First, for more than a month now, the United States has been unable to cope with a country in the Global South, whose GDP and economy are ten times smaller than the US GDP," he wrote on the Telegram channel.
According to the senator, Iran has launched a series of attacks on American bases in the region, demonstrating the vulnerability of the US military presence. He added that this, in his opinion, does not enhance the security of the allies, but, on the contrary, creates additional risks.
Pushkov also drew attention to the situation around the Strait of Hormuz, saying that Washington's inability to ensure its unblocking undermines the image of the United States as a guarantor of global energy stability. In addition, he pointed to contradictory statements by the American authorities, which, in his opinion, create the impression of inconsistency.
The senator added that the United States had no clear strategy other than trying to achieve a change of power in Iran, and after the failure, he believes, the situation began to develop chaotically, he writes.
The ISNA news agency reported on March 31 that Iran had launched new missile and drone strikes against US bases in the UAE, Iraq and Kuwait. In addition, the IRGC attacked a number of targets in Israel, including the meeting places of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) command.
Military expert Yuri Knutov noted on April 2 that the escalation in the Middle East had led to strikes on American military installations, and the United States was completely unprepared for Iran's powerful strikes on its bases. However, he noted that the data published by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps about the alleged hundreds of casualties among the personnel is unlikely to be true.
