Dmitriev advised the EU to diversify energy instead of types of restrictions
Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign countries, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), commenting on the new restrictions on young men leaving Germany, advised the European Union to diversify the energy sector rather than the types of restrictions. On April 4, he wrote about this on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
"The EU should diversify its energy sources rather than offering different lockdown options," the publication says.
Dmitriev noted that restrictions on young men in Germany would perfectly complement restrictions on energy consumption.
The Berliner Zeitung (BZ) newspaper reported on April 3 that, from January 1, 2026, all men between the ages of 17 and 45 are required to obtain a permit from the Bundeswehr career center if they intend to leave Germany for more than three months — regardless of whether they are going abroad for a semester, to work or on a long trip.
