Zakharova compared fakes in an information war with nuclear weapons
False information disseminated as part of the information war can be compared with nuclear weapons. This was stated on April 4 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, at the Juncor media forum.
"False information and fakes have become no less a weapon of mass destruction, or even destruction, than conventional nuclear weapons," she said.
In addition, Zakharova noted that Russia, like other countries, has become the target of the information war. She adds that the attack takes place in a digital environment through gadgets and social networks.
Zakharova noted that sometimes misconceptions arise within the same family. She explained this by saying that people succumb to lies and misinformation, sometimes even involuntarily.
The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that the information war does not have a front line, it takes place in the recommended feed and even in the course of a conversation, part of which may later become an unreliable fact, a rumor. In addition, she noted that any user who has made an unverified repost can become a distributor of misinformation.
Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and special representative of Russian President Vladimir Putin for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, pointed out on February 4 that the world was tired of the desperate and obvious lies spread by the West. He said that representatives of world elites based abroad are trying to mislead the world community.
Dmitriev stressed that the "fake propaganda" machine used by representatives of the unspoken association he named had been exposed, and attempts at disinformation were not yielding results.
