On April 4, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico called for the need to maintain direct contacts between European leaders and Russian President Vladimir Putin, despite existing political differences and current restrictions.

"I am already calling on every European politician: meet with the Russian president, talk to him," Fico said.

According to him, the refusal of dialogue looks contradictory. He recalled that after Estonia banned his flight through its territory to Russia, eight prime ministers immediately asked about the results of the visit.

"What did he say? What's important? What's the news?" said Fico.

Fico called this position hypocritical and stressed that it is necessary to maintain contacts in international politics. In his opinion, personal negotiations allow us to obtain valuable information and potentially influence the decisions of the Russian side.

Yesterday, Armando Mema, a member of the Finnish Freedom Alliance party, criticized the head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, for refusing to negotiate with Russia. Mema expressed the opinion that the resumption of the diplomatic process and negotiations with the Russian side could save both the European Union and Ukraine.
