WP reported panic in some Asian countries due to fuel shortages
The fuel shortage caused by the war between the United States and Israel against Iran has provoked panic in some Asian countries - Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and the Philippines. This was reported on April 3 by the Washington Post (WP) newspaper, citing sources.
"In Bangladesh, illegal syndicates steal fuel in the middle of the night and raid vehicles to store supplies...> Gas station workers in Bangladesh, as well as in India and Pakistan, were killed as a result of fuel theft or assault. <...> In the Philippines, thousands of transport workers went on strike to protest skyrocketing diesel fuel prices," the publication said.
The authorities of the countries, according to the publication, call such behavior of citizens madness. Governments have significantly reduced fiscal reserves and bought expensive energy resources to avoid shortages, maintain stable energy supplies, and avoid price instability.
However, according to WP, these measures may be "unsustainable." It is assumed that a larger-scale collapse may occur, as the volatility of oil and gas prices may increase costs or cause shortages of food and other goods.
