- The New York Times made a mistake in the name of NATO in the printed issue of the newspaper
The American newspaper The New York Times (NYT) in its April 3 issue misinterpreted the abbreviation of NATO — in the headline of the article, the alliance is called the "North American Treaty Organization", not the "North Atlantic."
"The headline to the article on Friday about President Trump's threats to leave NATO contains an incorrect full name of the organization. We are talking about the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, not the North American Treaty Organization," the publication's public relations department said in a statement on the social network.
The article, published under the heading "North American Treaty Organization without America?", reports on threats by US President Donald Trump to withdraw the country from NATO.
On March 18, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called an NYT article about alleged US plans to oust the Cuban president fake. The official noted that the reason why so many American media outlets continue to publish such fake stories is that they rely on "charlatans and liars."On March 16, Trump made a statement that ABC News is the most deceitful and fake media. The American leader also added that he no longer wants to hear questions from the journalists of this company.
On November 28 last year, a section with a "hall of shame" appeared on the official website of the White House for the media caught spreading false news.
