The State Duma allowed the use of verified neural networks in education
Russia may allow the use of verified and secure neural networks in education. On April 4, a group of State Duma deputies sent the relevant bill to the Government of the Russian Federation for review.
"I propose in a new draft law, developed with the support of experts and students, not to ignore, not to ban, but to legalize neural networks in the secure information and educational space of state services," Yaroslav Nilov, one of the authors of the draft law, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, told TASS.
It is noted that verified artificial intelligence (AI) systems can be allowed, in which pedagogical control and protection of personal data will be provided. It is expected that access to such AI systems will be carried out centrally through a single state information system.
The responsibility to ensure a secure digital environment for students will be assigned to educational organizations.
On February 19, the Russian Ministry of Education included the first large-scale school textbooks on AI in the federal list. The manuals "Introduction to Artificial Intelligence" are designed for students in grades 5-6, 7-8, and 9. As early as 2026, the manuals will be available to schools across the country. Alexander Vedyakhin, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the AI Alliance and First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank, noted that modern children start interacting with artificial intelligence early.
On December 25 last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed out the importance of a fundamental revision of existing retraining programs against the background of the development of AI. According to him, despite the introduction of new technologies into everyday life, it is necessary not to forget about the fundamental foundations of education and human well-being.
