Starting from July 1, the procedure for calculating sick leave and maternity payments may change in Russia. The Social Fund of Russia (SFR) will be able to make calculations without contacting the employer if the necessary data is available. This statement was made on April 4 by State Duma deputy Alexei Govyrin from the United Russia faction.
He noted that the Ministry of Labor has submitted for public discussion a draft resolution that changes the procedure for obtaining information from the Social Fund for the appointment of benefits for temporary disability, pregnancy and childbirth, as well as monthly child care benefits.
"Currently, when assigning benefits, the SFR relies on data and documents from the employer, the insurer's own information and information from state and municipal authorities. The project changes the priority and puts the individual personal account of the employee in the first place. Starting from July 1, 2026, this bill will include data on the periods counted in the length of service for calculating sick leave and maternity leave, as well as information on the periods of payment of the benefits themselves," the deputy told RIA Novosti.
