Iran is considering withdrawing from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). This was announced on April 4 by an Iranian diplomatic source.

"Withdrawal from the NPT is still only a discussion in parliament and society, the people want it, there are very big claims against the IAEA [International Atomic Energy Agency], but for now we remain and adhere to our obligations," the source told RIA Novosti.

It is noted that at the moment the Islamic Republic is still fulfilling the terms of the agreement.

The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic, Esmail Bagai, announced on March 30 that the Iranian parliament is considering the possibility of the country's withdrawal from the NPT. According to him, Tehran has never sought to create and use nuclear weapons. He clarified that Iran has a clear position, which is to ban and destroy weapons of mass destruction.
