France approves expulsion of Russian businessman Antonov to Lithuania
The French judicial system has agreed to extradite Russian businessman Vladimir Antonov, who is suspected of embezzlement and is under arrest warrant, to Lithuania. This was reported by Sudouest magazine on April 3.
"The Investigative Chamber of the Rennes Court of Appeal has ordered extradition to the Lithuanian authorities," said one of Antonov's lawyers.
The lawyer noted that the court had not taken into account the specific risk of an attack on Antonov's life in Eastern Europe and announced an appeal.
The newspaper Le Parisien reported on April 2 that French law enforcement officers had detained Rima Hassan, a member of the European Parliament (EP) from the left-wing France Defiant party in Paris. The reason for the detention was a social media post in which Hassan mentioned Japanese terrorist Kozo Okamoto, who participated in the terrorist attack at Lod Airport (now Ben Gurion Airport) in Israel in May 1972. The publication attracted the interest of the National Center for Combating Online Hate, which launched an investigation. After the first call to the police, the deputy deleted the post.
