Moscow is considering the possibility of restoring the lost sculptures that were part of the architectural design of the building on Bolshaya Dmitrovka Street, house 2. This was announced on Friday, April 3, by the author of the initiative, advisor to the Rector of the Higher School of Economics and journalist Oleg Leonov.

According to him, the building occupies an important place in the architectural appearance of the capital and was reconstructed in the late 1930s according to the project of Dmitry Chechulin, the Moscow City News agency notes. At that time, figures of athletes designed by Armenak Stepanyants were installed in niches at the entrance to the metro, but over time they were lost. Leonov noted that their restoration will help preserve the historical style of the center of Moscow and the architect's original idea. kp.ru . The idea was supported by the metropolitan Department of Cultural Heritage. They believe that the availability of archival photographs and similar works makes it possible to recreate lost elements, although this process will require time and the participation of specialists — archivists, historians, sculptors and engineers.
