The dog handler spoke about the meaning of facial expressions in dogs
Vladimir Golubev, President of the Russian Cynological Federation, told us what signals a dog gives its owner with facial expressions.
In an interview with Radio 1 on Friday, April 3, he noted that a dog's body language is a complex communication system in which posture, tail position and facial expressions are important: ears, eyes and mouth. According to him, the "grimaces" of animals do not coincide with human signals, so it is important to carefully observe the pet and learn how to correctly interpret its behavior.
The expert explained that the dog's condition can be determined by the eyes: a soft squinted look with a slow blink indicates calmness, while a gaze is perceived as a threat. If the pet looks away and the whites of its eyes are visible, it means that it is uncomfortable. The position of the ears also shows a lot: natural is a sign of calmness, alert is a willingness to react, and pressed can mean not only fear, but also other emotions.
Golubev added that a "smile" in dogs does not always mean joy: an open mouth can indicate both play and overheating. Yawning and licking are more often associated with stress or an attempt to reduce tension, rather than fatigue or pleasure. According to him, it is important to consider combinations of signals: it is their combination that makes it possible to understand how a pet feels — from calmness and joy to anxiety or overheating.
In March, Vladimir Urazhevsky, a dog handler and veterinarian, reminded NSN that it is possible to treat a pet from ticks with spray, drops or a long-acting pill, and this must be done. He also advised to carefully examine the pet after a walk and monitor its well-being. He added that dogs are always vaccinated, and among the main ones are distemper, hepatitis, enteritis, leptospirosis, adenovirus, coronavirus, rabies, writes RT.
Also in March, dog handler Yulia Soltan told Izvestia that it is important to prepare a pet in advance for the summer season and take into account a number of nuances. In particular, before traveling, it is necessary to make sure that all vaccinations are available, as well as to carry out treatment against external and internal parasites.
In October, experts noted that a dog's growling often serves not as a manifestation of aggression, but as a way to communicate fear, pain, or discomfort. Ignoring this signal can lead the owner to an unexpected bite. 360.ru .
