ATOR reported forced additional payment by tourists for tours due to an increase in fuel tax

Airlines have begun to issue additional bills to tour operators for already paid travel packages, which is associated with an increase in fuel taxes. This was announced on April 3 by the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) on its website.

The price adjustments affected popular destinations such as Egypt, Vietnam and Thailand, which were affected by the escalation of the situation in the Middle East. On average, the cost of tours to Egypt increased by $57 per person. However, on some routes, the surcharge may exceed $ 110, or up to 18.8 thousand rubles for two people. Trips to Thailand increased in price by $119-129 per person, and to Vietnam — by $161-200 per person.

Tour operators report that the largest increase was recorded among foreign air carriers, where previously blocks of prepaid seats were taken. Similar adjustments also affected some Russian airlines operating in mass destinations.

For tourists whose already paid tours have become more expensive, settlement options are offered. You can make an additional payment and save the tour, receive a refund without penalties, or transfer the payment to a new trip.
