On Friday and the first weekend of April, traffic police officers will conduct massive and continuous checks on the country's roads, special attention will be paid to the search for drunk drivers. The regional departments of the State Traffic Inspectorate announced the implementation of preventive measures.

Raids on drunk motorists will take place in the Kirov, Tver, Samara, Lipetsk, Chelyabinsk, Ryazan, Penza regions, the Republic of Bashkortostan and other regions of the country.

The State Traffic Inspectorate urged citizens who saw that a person with signs of intoxication was getting behind the wheel of a car or the driver was behaving inappropriately on the road to report it to the police. According to such reports, the traffic police will immediately take all necessary response measures, the department noted.

"We remind you about the inadmissibility of driving under the influence of alcohol: this gross violation of traffic rules leads to the most serious consequences. We strongly ask motorists to refrain from traveling after drinking alcoholic beverages and not to risk their lives, as well as the lives of their passengers and other road users," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child Traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

The State Traffic Inspectorate recalled that driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as refusing a medical examination, entails the deprivation of a driver's license for a period of one and a half to two years and a heavy fine. In addition, in some cases, the driver faces criminal liability.

Earlier it was reported that since April 1, when the annual recalculation of the bonus-malus coefficient (KBM) in CTP took place, the number of drivers with its minimum value has increased. Now, drivers with a BMD below 1 account for 93.8% of all drivers in the country.
