- Axios reported on the similarity of the photo of the downed plane in Iran with the F-15 fighter jet.
Images of the wreckage of a downed American military aircraft published by Iran's state media may belong to an F-15 fighter jet. This was announced on April 3 by the Axios portal.
"On Friday, Iranian state media published photos and videos purporting to show parts of the downed plane and one of the ejection seats. Photos and videos indicate that this is an F-15 fighter jet. <...> This is the first time since the beginning of the war when an American aircraft was shot down by enemy fire," the publication says.
The authors of the materials note that neither the White House nor the Ministry of War have yet responded to media questions about the incident.
The Iranian news agency Journews reported on the same day that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had discovered and detained the pilot of the downed American F-35 fighter jet during a search operation. It is noted that the images of the fighter's seat, published by the IRGC intelligence service, were aimed at misinforming the rescue operation of the US Army.
On the same day, the Central Command of the US Armed Forces (CENTCOM) deployed the latest EA-37B electronic warfare aircraft during a military operation against Iran. In addition to him, B-1, B-2 Stealth and B-52 strategic bombers, as well as fifth-generation F-22 and F-35 fighters, worked in the skies over Iran.
