The expert gave advice on protecting the car body from corrosion in the spring

In order for the car body to retain its strength and appearance longer, it is necessary to wash it regularly, use rust converters, film vulnerable areas and carry out other procedures. Dmitry Yarygin, senior manager of the Sintec brand's "Auto Chemicals and Cosmetics" department, told Rossiyskaya Gazeta on April 3.

In spring, when snow is actively melting, mixing with road reagents, and humidity is high, ideal conditions for corrosion are created. Wheel arches, bottoms, and sills are the most vulnerable, where dirt, water, and salt fly. The lower edges of the doors and threaded connections are also under attack.

Regular washing removes salt and plaque without damaging the paintwork. In February and March, you should wash your car at least three or four times a month, the expert advised. If a red coating appears on the body, a rust converter should be used: aerosols, gels or liquid formulations create a protective film and stop the development of corrosion.

Another good way to protect the body from chipping and sand is to cover the hood, sills and bumpers with a thin polyurethane or vinyl film. Regular polishing of the layer eliminates microcracks through which moisture penetrates, and sealing seams saves welded joints and edges from destruction.

In addition to these measures, a new generation of protective coatings are "liquid ceramics" and quartz compounds, which form a hydrophobic barrier on the body, giving a mirror shine and protecting the paintwork from reagents and minor damage. The specialist also advised treating the hidden cavities of the body with a multi-purpose penetrating lubricant that displaces moisture and forms a protective film that prolongs the service life of hard-to-reach areas. It is better to store the car in a dry and ventilated area, the expert recommended.
