You can get a beautiful smile without installing veneers and damaging your teeth. On April 5, Andrey Zhuk, dentist, orthodontist, Candidate of Medical Sciences, founder of the OrthoLike clinic, told Izvestia about this.

"Veneers are an artificial intervention that requires turning the enamel, and any reduction in the volume of the tooth's own tissues makes it weaker and more vulnerable in the future," the specialist noted.

According to him, it is widely believed that even teeth automatically mean health, but this is not the case. Not only aesthetics are important, but also proper bite, muscle balance, and joint functionality.

The expert emphasized that orthodontic treatment requires an individual approach and strategic planning. The doctor must take into account the characteristics of the patient's body in order to achieve a safe and sustainable result.

Zhuk added that veneers give a quick visual effect, but they do not solve bite problems and do not restore the functionality of the dental system. At the same time, the sharpened teeth become more vulnerable, and their restoration in the future is difficult. Modern orthodontics, he says, allows you to correct the position of teeth without damaging the enamel.

"Internal braces that work with the biomechanics of the body make it possible to optimally distribute the load on the masticatory muscles, reduce their hypertrophy and form a neat, balanced contour of the face. This approach ensures not only an aesthetic effect, but also the functional health of the dental system, reducing the risk of tooth wear and decay with age," said the orthodontist.

In addition, he stressed that effective treatment is based on a thorough diagnosis and proven methods, which allows you to predict the result and reduce the risk of complications.

"If it is possible to preserve the tooth and its natural structure, it is better to spend time on orthodontic treatment than to resort to veneers," the specialist concluded.

On March 2, Zhuk named three age-revealing signs of a smile. According to the doctor, the first indicator is how visible the upper incisors are at rest. Normally, their edge should be visible from under the upper lip by about 2-3 mm. This position visually softens the facial features and makes it look younger.
