Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty said he had discussed with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov the issue of expanding flights between the two countries. This was stated by the head of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry on April 3 during a press conference following the talks in Moscow.

"I also agreed with Mr. Lavrov about the importance of developing air links between airports in our countries for the opening of new Russian tourism centers not only on the Red Sea coast, but also on the Mediterranean coast, the sea, for example, in the city of Al-Alamein, Al-Hallaba and others. We could provide air links to Russian cities and to the cities of Al-Alamein and Alexandria," Abdel Ata said.

He added that Egypt is proud of its existing tourism and trade ties with Russia and considers it its first partner in some areas. The Egyptian Foreign Minister indicated that he had agreed with his Russian counterpart to discuss the expansion of existing areas of cooperation within the framework of the Russia-Africa forum.

Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ata in the Kremlin on April 2. He thanked Putin for his support in ensuring the energy and food security of Egypt and the region. In addition, the Foreign Minister confirmed Cairo's participation in the Russia—Africa summit, which will be held in October 2026. He also expressed hope that the acute phase of the situation in the region would end as soon as possible so that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi could personally attend the summit.

During this meeting, Putin also noted that Russia and Egypt could discuss the creation of a grain and energy hub. He added that the two countries have many good plans and a lot is being implemented. The President noted that he had instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to work out grain supplies to Egypt. He said that Russia had a good grain harvest and there would be no problems.
