The idea of the European Union (EU) to create a full-fledged military component within an association similar to NATO is changing the picture of the world. This was announced on April 3 by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council.

"Brussels is seriously considering the creation of a full-fledged military component within the EU. But this is changing the picture of the world," he wrote on the Telegram channel.

Medvedev noted that so far Russia's rhetoric about EU membership has been restrained and calm, but now everything has to change, since the EU is no longer an economic union. According to Medvedev, the union can quickly turn into a full-fledged and extremely hostile military alliance against Russia.

Finnish President Alexander Stubb also said on March 27 that NATO had split into several parts, namely, the northern countries, which defend the liberal order, and the Western countries, which support the conclusion of deals with the United States.

On February 18, the Russian Embassy in Belgium told Izvestia about the split of opinions within NATO. The diplomats recalled that Trump openly acknowledged the validity of Russia's rejection of the idea of expanding the alliance, calling attempts to draw Ukraine into NATO a mistake.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
