It is time for Russia to change its "tolerant attitude" towards the intention of its neighboring countries, including Ukraine, to become members of the European Union (EU). On April 3, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, made such a proposal.

The politician noted that serious contradictions are brewing within NATO, as a result of which Brussels is seriously considering the creation of a full-fledged military component in the EU. According to him, such an idea can change the picture of the world, because then the European Union will cease to be an "economic union" and turn into a military alliance hostile to Russia.

"What am I getting at? But here's the thing: it's time to abandon the tolerant attitude towards joining the military-economic European Union of our neighbors. Including country 404," Medvedev wrote on his Facebook channel.

Medvedev also expressed doubts about the withdrawal of the United States and NATO. According to him, the American congressmen will not allow the country to do this, as there is no reason for it.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said at an informal meeting of Ukraine–EU foreign ministers on March 31 that Ukraine was ready to open negotiating clusters on joining the European Union and called on European countries to set precise dates when the country could become a member of the community. It is known that on the same day he received a refusal from the head of EU diplomacy, Kai Kallas.
