HR director explained the benefits of "Mondays at minimum" for employees
Zoomers continue to change their attitude to work, now they have set a trend for "Mondays at minimum." The essence of the trend is to perform only the most basic and urgent tasks on the first day of the week, avoiding meetings and overloads. On April 5, Valentina Romanova, HR Director of the Level Group, told Izvestia how this practice helps in the fight against employee burnout and how employers themselves treat it.
According to her, regulating the workload during working days and distributing tasks during the week is primarily the responsibility of the employee himself, as well as taking care of his emotional state.
"If a person achieves the desired result, let him work in the rhythm that suits him. Today, it is extremely important that employees are able to manage their own productivity. Everyone is different: someone is as effective as possible when they produce results in intense bursts on certain days, while someone prefers to distribute the load more evenly. The main thing is the result, not an imitation of maximum workload from the very beginning of the week," the expert explained.
According to the HR Director, a modern employer needs to be flexible in organizing work schedules and be understanding of the changing demands of teams. As with short career breaks to recuperate, the trend towards careful Mondays reflects a global shift in corporate culture. Companies are increasingly implementing well-being programs, realizing that a burned-out specialist will not benefit the business.
"We see that the focus is finally shifting from strict process control to real efficiency and human health. It is beneficial for businesses that people are able to track their energy levels. If, for a smooth entry into the week, a specialist needs to give up stressful morning planning on Monday and calmly get into the routine, an adequate employer will meet them halfway. This is a manifestation of awareness on both sides," the specialist said.
Romanova noted that the management does not object to the practice of an unloaded Monday only if it does not affect the results of work and does not disrupt the performance of tasks. According to her, a more relaxed start to the week is acceptable if employees compensate for this in the following days. She stressed that the employer is ready to maintain a comfortable regime only on condition that all tasks are completed on time and in full, without breaking deadlines.
The expert also pointed out that reducing stress at the beginning of the week can serve as an effective measure to prevent fatigue. This approach, in her opinion, helps to maintain emotional balance and avoid rapid burnout.
Independent HR expert Anna Alikova told Izvestia on April 1 that Generation Z is increasingly abandoning the classic fixed-hour work schedule, prioritizing mental health and flexibility. She noted that for zoomers, the 9-5 chart is not a symbol of stability, but a symbol of "prison." Sitting in the office "for show", even if the task is completed in a few hours, is perceived as a pointless waste of time.
