The circumstances of the incident

Recovery trains from Ulyanovsk, Bugulma, Syzran and Ruzaevka stations arrived at the scene to eliminate the consequences of the accident. The governor of the Ulyanovsk region, Alexey Russian, said on the Telegram channel that he had gone to the place where the wagons were derailing. Nikolai Shestakov, an official representative of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, told RIA Novosti that the head of the department, Andrei Nikitin, instructed Rostransnadzor employees to go to the emergency site to investigate the causes of the accident.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, fire and rescue units continue to work at the train derailment site. More than 100 people and 32 pieces of equipment were involved from the Emergency Situations Ministry. Additionally, a train with two passenger cars with a capacity of 150 people left the Ulyanovsk-Tsentralny station.

It was later reported that two trains with passenger cars with a capacity of 300 people and buses were sent to evacuate people to the scene. A temporary accommodation facility has been deployed in Bryandino.

A criminal case on the fact of an emergency

Investigators and criminologists from the Central Interregional Investigative Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of Russia went to the scene. A set of initial verification measures is being carried out to establish all the circumstances of the incident.

A criminal case has been opened in the Ulyanovsk region on violations of the rules of traffic safety and operation of railway transport. This was reported on April 3 in the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

"A criminal case has been opened into the derailment of seven passenger cars on the grounds of a crime under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of the rules of safety and operation of railway transport")," the message says in the messenger of the MAX.

Investigators are conducting a set of investigative actions aimed at establishing all the circumstances and causes of the incident. Witnesses are being questioned, and a number of examinations have been scheduled.

What is known about the victims

There are no fatalities as a result of the train derailment in the Ulyanovsk region. 20 passengers, including one child, had bruises, and two more had fractures. This was announced on April 3 by Alexey Texler, Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region.

"There are no fatalities. Previously, there were two passengers with fractures: one with a broken leg, the other with a broken collarbone. There are 20 people with bruises, including one child with a leg injury," the governor wrote on the Telegram channel.

He noted that all passengers from the overturned cars were evacuated. An operational headquarters has been deployed at the scene.

According to the press service of the South Ural Railway (YuZhD), 157 residents of the Chelyabinsk region, including 65 children, were on the train. 17 children aged 11 to 17 followed to Zlatoust station, and 48 more children aged 6 to 17 followed to Chelyabinsk.

24 people, including four children, are being evacuated from the scene of the emergency in the Ulyanovsk region to hospitals in the region. There are no serious injuries, all are in a preliminary condition of moderate and mild severity. The provision of medical assistance to victims is coordinated by the Federal Center for Disaster Medicine of the Russian Ministry of Health. This was announced by the Assistant Minister of Health of Russia Alexey Kuznetsov.

Providing assistance to victims

The Ministry of Health of the region initially sent two ambulance teams and one disaster medicine team to the accident site, later the grouping was increased by four more ambulances.

Wagons for transporting train passengers to Ulyanovsk station have been delivered to Bryandino station, the press service of Russian Railways reports.

"A passenger screening center will operate at the Ulyanovsk-Tsentralny railway station with the provision of necessary medical care," the company's Telegram channel says.

After the examination, passengers will continue on other trains with medical support.

At the same time, as reported in Russian Railways, passengers of the train can count on insurance payments.
