In 2027, the Lastochka trains of the fourth automation level are scheduled to be launched on the Moscow Central Ring (MCC). This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Saveliev, who spoke at the plenary session of the International Transport and Logistics Forum, a Swallow of the third level of automation was already launched at the MCC in August 2024, and the transition to the next level is scheduled for 2027, the Moscow City News Agency reports. The third level of automation assumes that the train moves independently, but the driver remains in the cabin — he controls the process and controls the doors during boarding and disembarking passengers. The fourth level means a completely unmanned mode: the train operates without the presence of a person in the cabin, Moscow 24 clarifies.

As noted by 360.ru The authorities plan to gradually expand the use of autonomous technologies: in 2026-2029, 139 trains will be equipped with third-level systems, and then about 60 fully unmanned trains will be introduced at the MCC.

Saveliev also noted that since June 2023, the fleet of unmanned trucks on public roads has increased from three to 95 units. According to him, by 2030 it is planned to increase their number to 4 thousand, subject to the development of the regulatory framework.
