New car sales in Russia have increased by 4 since the beginning of the year%

According to the results of the first quarter of 2026, 299,664 new cars were sold in the Russian Federation (up to three years). This result is 4% higher than the figures for the same period last year. This was announced on April 2 by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia.

According to the Ministry, passenger car sales in January –March increased by 9% (266,989 units). At the same time, the segment of light commercial models and trucks decreased by 23% to 18,675 and 11,803 units, respectively. The volume of bus sales decreased by 12% (2,197 units), the Ministry of Industry and Trade said.

"The share of Russian equipment in January – March 2026 increased by 6 percentage points compared to the same period last year and reached 60%. At the same time, this share exceeded 62% in March. During the month, 73 thousand cars of domestic production were sold, which is 38% more than in March 2025," the press service of the department noted.
