Russian actor Mikhail Yefremov, who was released on parole, may go back to prison if he violates the rules or the law. This was announced on April 2 by lawyer Elena Ponomareva.

According to her, the actor, even despite staying outside the colony, continues to serve his sentence on probation. He is obliged to check in with authorized persons on a monthly basis, find a job, and also not to change his place of residence.

"The most important thing is whether he commits another crime during this period and whether his conditional release will be canceled, and whether this term will be added to another term that may be appointed. The most important thing now is to be a law—abiding citizen and strictly observe the law," Ponomareva said in a conversation with Channel Five.

Efremov, as the lawyer added, it is important to carefully monitor his behavior and avoid conflict situations with the subsequent suppression of the permissible line.

On March 24, 2025, the Alekseevsky District Court of the Belgorod Region approved Yefremov's petition for his release on parole. He ended up in a penal colony after he became the culprit of an accident in which a man died on June 8, 2020. After being released, the actor, who had health problems, decided to return to the stage. To do this, he personally approached Nikita Mikhalkov, the director of Workshop 12, with a request to take him to the play "Without Witnesses."

Mikhalkov, in turn, later, on March 26, thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for Yefremov's return to creative activity. Speaking at a meeting of the Cultural Council, he noted that the actor was given a "second life" by such a decision.
