By the early 2030s, the volume of cargo on the Northern Sea Route will be so large that ships will be launched as electric trains. This was announced on April 2 by Alexey Likhachev, head of the Rosatom State Corporation, at the plenary session of the International Transport and Logistics Forum.

"We think that by the early 30s, the volume of cargo will increase to such a stage that we can talk about a certain train, a certain timetable, and the movement of ships all year round in the interests of a number of consumers," Likhachev said.

According to him, work is currently underway to develop the route so that it can be used year-round. In addition, this area will be developed for several customers to switch to the "caravan principle of ship organization."

Likhachev announced on March 27 that Rosatom would invest hundreds of billions of rubles to support Russia's technological sovereignty projects. According to him, the whole world is "moving towards the development of world trade." He called the development of the sovereignty of the Russian Federation in foreign trade, logistics, science and the military sphere important.
