The average price of a new domestic car increased by 28% over the year

The average price of a new Russian-made car in March 2026 was 2.04 million rubles, which is 28% more than in the same month last year. The average price of a Chinese brand car reached 3.95 million rubles in early spring, an increase of almost 6% over the year. "Such a significant jump is associated with an increase in the share of new domestic manufacturers, whose model range is mainly in the segment of 2 million rubles," the experts explained.

At the same time, minimal changes in the average price were recorded in March compared to the beginning of the year. Over the past month, only five regions have seen an increase in the average cost of a new car. In the Bryansk region, the increase was 8% (up to 3.8 million rubles), in the Rostov Region — by 6% (up to 2.48 million rubles), in the Kaluga Region — by 5% (up to 2.34 million rubles), and in the Stavropol Territory — by 3.5% (1.8 million rubles).

The leaders in reducing the average cost were the Republic of Bashkortostan (-15.5%; 2.3 million rubles), Perm Krai (-12.4%; 2.12 million rubles) and Voronezh Region (-6.6%; 2.7 million rubles).

In Moscow, the average cost of a new car remains the highest in the country: in March it reached 3.9 million rubles, which is 3% higher than in February, but 2% less than a year ago. In St. Petersburg, the price remained at around 3.19 million rubles, which is 40 thousand rubles higher than the average cost in March 2025.

By the end of March, the top five models officially presented on the Russian market, whose average cost decreased compared to the previous month, were the Zeekr 9X (-2%; 12.82 million rubles), Omoda C7 (-2%; 3.27 million rubles), Chery Tiggo 7L (-2%; 2.87 million rubles), Jaecoo J8 (-1.7%; 4.8 million rubles) and Omoda C5 (-1%; 2.82 million rubles).
