A set of volunteers for Victory Day has been opened in Moscow
Recruitment to the volunteer corps for Victory Day has opened in the capital. More than 2,000 volunteers will be able to participate in the preparation and holding of the actions "Thank you to the Hero", "St. George Ribbon" and "Streets of Heroes", said Deputy Mayor of Moscow Natalia Sergunina.
Applications are accepted until May 6. "Anyone can join. On the eve of May 9, volunteers will meet veterans who came to the capital to celebrate the 81st anniversary of the Victory, talk about the exploits of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, and collect letters from Muscovites to participants in a special military operation," Sergunina said.
At the end of April, the St. George Ribbon patriotic campaign will start in Moscow. Volunteers will distribute the ribbons in central squares, parks and metro stations from April 23 to April 26, from April 30 to May 1 and from May 6 to May 8.
From May 1 to May 3, as part of the "Thank you to the Hero" campaign, those who wish will be able to send congratulatory letters and postcards to veterans of the Great Patriotic War and participants in a special military operation. Volunteers will take them to Zaryadye, Sokolniki, Khodynskoye Pole, Krasnaya Presnya parks, as well as Gorky Park and Victory Park on Poklonnaya Gora.
From 4 to 6 May, representatives of the volunteer corps will talk about the exploits of heroes, such as Yuri Kostikov and Boris Dmitrievsky, on the streets named after them.
On the eve of Victory Day, volunteers will meet veterans who have arrived in Moscow at three airports and four train stations and tell them about the festive events in the city.
Last year, events in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War brought together more than 25,000 volunteers from the capital.
