A memorial plaque was unveiled in Moscow in memory of the outstanding statesman, diplomat and publicist Valentin Falin. The ceremony took place on April 2 and was timed to coincide with his 100th birthday.

A memorial plaque was installed on the building of the Union of Journalists of Russia on Zubovsky Boulevard. Falin's contribution to modern politics and journalism cannot be overestimated.

In the 1970s, Valentin Falin was the USSR ambassador to Germany. After that, he worked as an assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Gromyko. Later he became a political columnist for the newspaper Izvestia, and in 1986 he became head of the Novosti press agency.

Falin died at the age of 92 on February 22, 2018. Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov called Falin an intelligent and experienced politician. The parliamentarian recalled that it was Valentin Falin who warned the President of the USSR Gorbachev about the consequences of agreeing to the reunification of Germany without conditions.
