Alexey Smirnov, the former governor of the Kursk region, who is accused of accepting bribes, said on April 2 that he would not have enough of his remaining "life resources" to be sentenced to 15 years in a penal colony, which the prosecutor requested for him.

"I support the lawyer's remark, the amount of the fine in rubles and the number of years requested is incommensurable. I think I don't even have such a life resource," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying in the courtroom.
