The Russian Embassy has not received official notifications about any changes in the entry procedure for Russians to Sri Lanka. This was reported to Izvestia on April 2 by the embassy's press service.

Earlier, information appeared in a number of Telegram channels and the media about the preparation of the Sri Lankan authorities to cancel the free electronic visa for Russian citizens.

"According to our information, currently the procedure for entry into the country for Russians remains the same <...> The period of free stay in the country is currently 30 days. Without leaving the island state, it is possible to obtain a visa with a total stay in the Republic of up to six months," the message says.

In addition, the embassy recommended carefully checking the information about the visa regime in order to avoid misunderstandings.

Earlier in the day, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov announced that Russia was negotiating the abolition of the visa regime with Malaysia, Bahrain and Kuwait, as well as the introduction of a group visa-free regime with India and Vietnam. He noted that over the past two years, Russia has managed to increase the flow of foreign tourists by one and a half times to 5.6 million people.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
