MTS is putting into operation new base stations of a domestic manufacturer

MTS PJSC will install another 2,600 domestic base stations manufactured by Irteya LLC on its mobile network by the beginning of 2027, the operator's press service reported. After that, their total number in the regions of Russia will reach 3,800. The new batch of equipment from the Russian manufacturer has expanded functionality and supports all LTE and GSM frequency bands operating in the country.

By the beginning of 2025, MTS had put into trial operation on its existing network in 37 regions of Russia the first industrial batch of 200 Russian LTE base stations "Irteya" in the bands B3 (1800 MHz) and B20 (800 MHz). By the beginning of 2026, a second batch of 1,000 base stations from this manufacturer was installed with support for additional bands B1 (2100 MHz) and B7 (2600 MHz). As a result, a total of 1,200 Irteya base stations are currently operating in 58 regions.

"Over the past two years, MTS and Irteya have passed an important stage of testing and fine-tuning base stations. We tested their work with various subscriber devices, compatibility with network elements and integration into the existing radio network of other vendors. And today we can say that the equipment confirms its readiness for commercial use. The new batch of base stations will have the necessary functionality, designed for higher loads in cities and will cover our need for all LTE and GSM frequency bands. We expect that after the completion of the next stage of testing in 2027, Irtei products will reach the level of quality, functionality, performance and cost required by Russian operators," commented Viktor Belov, Vice President for Telecommunications Infrastructure at MTS.

This is Russia's first large-scale project for the development, production and commercial commissioning of domestic base stations. The operator and the telecom vendor work closely together under the forward contract. Under the terms of the contract, Irteya will supply 20 thousand base stations to MTS by 2030.
