Near the territory of Donetsk, the so-called "drone hunters" are on duty every night, destroying drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) every day. This was reported on April 2 by Izvestia correspondent Valentin Trushnin.

"We've been on duty for several hours now. During this time, two drones arrived, but they were slightly to the right of our position. We heard them, but we didn't see them," the correspondent noted.

As the commander of the mobile firing group with the call sign Dokuch noted, most of the arrivals of the UAVs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine occur at night due to limited visibility. The Russian military tracks flying enemy drones using thermal imagers mounted on DShK machine guns and AK submachine guns.

"During the day, flights are very rare and single. They mostly try to launch at night, because the view is better during the day and create accuracy with the help of the allies who are here. <… > They (the fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is well understood that it is much more difficult to hit a target at night than during the daytime," the military added.

It is noted that to distract the enemy, UAV operators have also invented a non-standard method of using attack drones. Instead of a combat unit, military personnel install a smoke bomb on the UAV. At the same time, several such devices are thrown into the forest belt, along which groups of Russian attack aircraft must pass. The smoke created by this maneuver covers them from Ukrainian drones.

Earlier in the day, a Russian serviceman with the call sign Bullfinch said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had begun using a new attack tactic on the Russian border, in which UAVs are launched from aircraft carrier drones at an altitude of 2-3 km. To counter attacks from the "mother" drones, fighters use the Yelka interception system.
