The first car body of the new brand Jeland was painted in St. Petersburg

The first car body of the new Russian brand Jeland has been painted at the automobile plant of the AGR holding in Shushary, which has undergone a complete technical re-equipment. This is stated in the company's message, which was received by Izvestia on April 2.

According to AGR, the paint shop was created almost from scratch, taking into account modern requirements for the quality of paintwork and durability of the body. As part of the modernization work, the industrial floor was reinforced and leveled in areas with unstable soil, key production lines were completely updated, and new body preparation and treatment systems were introduced.

The changes affected the surface preparation line: the length of the baths was increased, the body was fully immersed at the phosphating stage, new filtration and dosing systems for chemical components were installed, as well as equipment for cleaning metal particles. The cataphoresis electrodeposition line has been upgraded, which is one of the important stages of anti—corrosion protection.

The main technological elements have been updated, including the dielectric coating of the bath, the anolyte cell system and the rectifying equipment. Modern wet-on-wet coating technology has been introduced in the paint industry, which involves sequential application of layers without intermediate drying of the base coat.

34 industrial painting robots were installed, which made it possible to completely abandon the manual application of paint and varnish materials. Additionally, robotic systems for applying sealants and protective compounds, including wax, have been introduced, providing additional anti-corrosion protection for hidden body cavities. Quality control is carried out at all stages and includes both operational control by the paint shop staff and instrumental measurements.

The company is currently continuing to set up and fine-tune its technological equipment, and testing cycles are underway to ensure unprecedented high production quality. The plant is consistently approaching the launch of full-cycle production.

Earlier, on March 30, it was reported that the Jeland brand, under which cars will be produced at the former GM plant in St. Petersburg, showed its first crossover. The prototype of the car was demonstrated to the Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov.

The fact that the first Jeland car body was welded in Shushary was reported on March 20. Representatives of AGR clarified that the welding workshop at the plant was actually created anew.
