Alexey Smirnov, the ex-governor of the Kursk region, was taken to court to consider the case of bribes during the construction of fortifications. This was reported on April 2 by a correspondent of Izvestia.

Smirnov and former vice-governor Alexei Dedov were taken into custody on February 6. It was reported that the ex-governor signed a cooperation agreement with the court, so his case will be considered in a special order. Dedov entered into a similar agreement, but 19 years in prison were subsequently requested for him.
