The State Duma proposed to limit the speed of movement on electric scooters
The speed of electric scooters on sidewalks should not exceed 7 km/h. This statement was made by Yaroslav Nilov, head of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs.
"Speed limits need to be reviewed. The limits that are in effect are sometimes too high, and we need to reduce them. If there is a sidewalk where there are a lot of pedestrians and scooters are used, the average pedestrian speed is 5 km/ h, then it is necessary to limit the scooter <...> to 7 km/h," Nilov said in an interview with TASS.
He added that it is necessary to introduce civil liability insurance for electric scooter drivers so that damage can be fully compensated.
Automotive lawyer Dmitry Slavnov warned on March 31 about fines that threaten scooters in Russia for violations. They can be obtained for driving under the influence of alcohol, for riding together on the same scooter, for driving in places where they cannot pass, and other conditions.
