Self—defense tools in Russia are tools that require a conscious approach, preparation, and strict adherence to the law. The creator of the social project "Sister" Marta Gracheva told about this on Wednesday, April 1.

The expert also talked about which ones are best to carry with you on the street and how to use them correctly.

According to Gracheva, the best "weapon" is passive safety skills, they prevent up to 90% of dangers.

"Choose illuminated routes, especially in the evening, and avoid solo walks in bars or questionable places without sober company. Always inform your loved ones about your plans by sending geolocation, taxi number or route via messenger. This is critical: the first hours of the search determine the outcome," the social activist emphasized in an interview with Lenta.Ru .

The expert advised the girls to take self-defense courses in order to master the basic techniques of getting out of hand or hair grabs and understand the boundaries of the necessary defense.

Speaking of items that can be legally carried, the specialist recommended pepper spray and a Russian-made taser.

"Pepper is not a jet, but a spray spray and from trusted brands. Buy in specialized stores, where experienced consultants will check the shelf life and compliance with GOST standards. It is effective for 2-3 meters, causes burning, lacrimation, disorientation for 20-40 minutes, giving time to escape. The main thing is training: snatching it out of your pocket in one or two seconds, a well—aimed shot in the face," Gracheva emphasized.

She added that the taser is more powerful, paralyzes muscles for 5-10 seconds, but its use is limited by strict rules. The device is allowed to be used from the age of 18. Gracheva clarified that Russian models with a power of up to 3 watts, purchased from manufacturers with a certificate, should be used.

"The areas of application are allowed: arms and legs, buttocks, back (from shoulder blades to lower back), abdomen, groin, armpits. It is strictly forbidden to use a stun gun in the head and heart area — this is an excess of defense," the expert clarified.

She stressed that in matters of legislation, it would not be possible to shift responsibility for one's actions to a state of affect, emotion, fear or panic.

At the same time, Gracheva urged to immediately call the police after using protective equipment and describe the situation calmly and calmly.

"We should not try to hide the incident, on the contrary, we declare it. And the key prohibition is: no drugs in intoxication — it simply nullifies self—defense," she concluded.

Earlier, lawyer Konstantin Trapaidze explained in an interview with RT that the use of a gas canister would be considered necessary defense in case of an attack or threat of such an attack.

At the same time, the illegal use of this means of self-defense may lead to criminal liability. The question of the legality of using a gas canister is related to the concept of necessary defense. It is used to protect oneself or others from socially dangerous attacks involving life-threatening violence or the threat of such violence, clarifies 360.ru .

In turn, Tatiana Lyubina, a psychologist at the Teamo dating service, said that, according to statistics, every third woman is confronted with unwanted harassment, but many do not know how to react correctly in such situations. She named effective ways to protect against street harassment.
