The regional stage of the #Myplace International Award has started in the capital. Applications for participation are accepted until May 24 on the official website, said Deputy Mayor Natalia Sergunina.

Moscow volunteers, representatives of non-profit organizations (NPOs), government agencies, and businesses are invited to join. Both individual participants and teams present their socially significant initiatives.

"The new season is timed to coincide with the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and the International Year of Volunteers. Projects aimed at preserving historical and cultural traditions and strengthening interethnic partnership will be awarded in one of the special nominations," Sergunina said.

There will be a total of 12 main nominations this year, including Volunteer of the Year. Volunteers who have made a significant contribution to the development of volunteerism in Russia can apply for the award in this category. The award in the "Heroes of Our Time" category is provided for NGOs that support veterans of the Great Patriotic War and participants in their activities.

Other nominations include "Code of Mercy", "Generation of Kindness", "Land of Opportunity", and "Mentor of the Year".

The strongest participants will represent Moscow at the national level. The award ceremony for the winners is scheduled for December.

Last year, the competition received over 52,000 applications from all over Russia. Most of all — 4.2 thousand — were sent by Muscovites. Awards were given to 13 projects from the capital, dedicated, among other things, to supporting participants in a special military operation and people with serious illnesses.
