- Shmeleva pointed out that Russia has created most of the standards in the field of AI.
Russia, one of the three world leaders in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), has formed most of the standards available in this area, which are used in the transport industry. Elena Shmeleva, Chairman of the Council of the Sirius Federal Territory, informed Izvestia about this on April 1.
"Today we have proved this, it seems to me, to all 80 participating countries, that it is Russia that has already formed most of the standards that can unite us all...> Russia, of course, with its mathematicians and its truly vast expanses, is breaking into the top three," she said during the international transport and logistics forum, which is taking place in St. Petersburg.
Shmeleva added that the rules created by Russian experts in the field of AI are capable of turning all the limitations currently available in this area into new opportunities. As she emphasized, we are talking here not only about unmanned vehicles, but also about the so-called seamless movement, as well as logistics and security issues.
The use of new technologies, as the Izvestia interlocutor added, will make it possible to work at fundamentally different speeds, which will entail a multiplicative economic effect. She noted that a large number of relevant implementations, created after overcoming fragmentation in the field of AI, can be seen in the federal territory of Sirius, where an experimental legal regime operates.
In the future, after distrust of AI and its protocols can be overcome, the developments will be scaled and replicated as planned.
On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in his video message, pointed out the importance of the technological revolution and the active introduction of artificial intelligence into the transport and logistics industry. It is important for Russian specialists, as the Russian leader added, to look at this issue for decades ahead and learn how to effectively manage unmanned logistics.
A few days earlier, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, taking part in the plenary session of the international digital forum Digital Qazaqstan 2026, which, in turn, is taking place in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, noted the high demand for Russian AI models. According to him, products created by Russian developers can be useful throughout the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
