Clinical psychologist Anna Balenko told how to make the brain work in a familiar routine.

In an interview with Radio 1 on Wednesday, April 1, the specialist noted that if the vacation is still far away and the energy level has already decreased, it is worth "rebooting" the brain in everyday life — adding elements of novelty and so-called "healthy chaos" to the routine. According to her, even simple actions, such as performing familiar tasks with the other hand, changing routes or dancing, help to get out of automatism, stimulate neuroplasticity and trigger the release of dopamine, which increases the feeling of control and confidence.

If the trip is already close, the expert advises to prepare in advance to avoid unnecessary stress. She recommended making a list of necessary things, packing a suitcase in advance, taking into account the weather conditions and taking all the necessary medicines with you. This approach, according to her, helps to keep calm and not spoil the rest. The psychologist also stressed that alcohol consumption on the plane can provoke panic attacks, so it is better to give it up.

Earlier on April 1, psychologist and psychotherapist Dmitry Evstigneev told Moscow 24 that 20 minutes of intense physical activity, washing with cold water and fixing thoughts on paper help to cope with stress.

On the same day, it was reported that scientists at the University of Sao Paulo found out that stress experienced in adolescence causes deeper and more lasting changes in the brain than the same stress in adulthood. The authors emphasize that a genetically vulnerable person who has experienced severe stress in adolescence may eventually develop schizophrenia, while the same stress in adulthood is more likely to provoke depression.

In February, clinical psychologist Vadim Bezdelev noted that physical activity plays a key role in maintaining mental health and cognitive functions. Regular moderate aerobic exercise — about 150 minutes a week — improves brain function and slows down age-related changes, writes RT. In particular, washing with cold water while holding your breath causes a reflex in which the pulse instantly slows down and blood flow is redirected to the brain and heart, notes 360.ru .

In December, psychologist Ekaterina Catalina, in an interview with NSN, warned that the goal of "checking out" all the sights on vacation leads to physical and emotional exhaustion. On the contrary, the novelty and unpredictability of spontaneous travel stimulate the release of dopamine, which is responsible for motivation, curiosity and a sense of satisfaction.

Prior to this, psychologist Maria Ananina, in an interview with the Moscow city News agency, stated that in the modern rhythm of life, work and study, the brain sometimes needs a short break. In particular, watching videos with cats and dogs is suitable for this, as it reduces the level of the stress hormone cortisol.
