- Property worth 1.2 billion rubles was confiscated from the ex-Secretary of State of Dagestan
The court confiscated property worth 1.2 billion rubles from the former Secretary of State of Dagestan Magomed-Sultan Magomedov at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office. This was announced on April 1 in the Supreme Court of the Republic.
"The Sovetsky District Court of Makhachkala has satisfied the anti-corruption claim. <...> The defendants purchased more than 50 real estate objects worth over 1.2 billion rubles, including 27 apartments, 17 buildings and non—residential premises, 13 land plots, as well as 17 cars," the court wrote on the VKontakte social network.
According to the report, Magomedov received all these acquisitions in the period from 2000 to 2023. It is noted that the official combined income of him and his family members did not allow him to buy this property and cars.
In August last year, the value of assets turned into state revenue after the lawsuit against Magomedov amounted to more than 100 billion rubles. The FSB reported that Magomedov had used administrative resources and illegally transferred a state-owned enterprise to republican ownership. After that, it was sold in favor of the persons under his control at an undervalued price.
The head of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, said on March 3 that the punishment for corruption crimes should be the confiscation of all property of convicts. According to him, over the past two years, the agency has initiated criminal prosecution of 36 judges involved in corruption crimes.
