Bloomberg pointed to the risk of disruptions in the supply of jet fuel in Europe
European airlines may face problems in fuel supplies from May. This was reported by Bloomberg on April 1, citing sources.
"Judging by the reserves, the European aviation fuel market looks quite secure for the next few weeks, but the supply cuts that will begin this week will put significant pressure on domestic and regional refineries, forcing them to increase production," warned Yaniv Shah, vice president of oil at Rystad Energy.
The agency clarifies that due to the war in Iran, the global market is losing millions of barrels of petroleum products every day, and the price of fuel for airplanes is rising faster than oil. It is noted that some airlines have already started canceling flights.
The Financial Times newspaper wrote on March 20 that the world's largest air carriers and airports are developing emergency measures in case of a shortage of aviation fuel amid supply disruptions and rising prices due to the conflict in the Middle East.
Ben Smith, executive director of Air France-KLM, clarified that the companies are considering reducing flights to Southeast Asia, which is "much more dependent on fuel supplies through the Persian Gulf than Europe."
