The Central Bank announced the preservation of cash and cards in the next five years

Cash and bank cards will remain in use for at least the next five years. This was announced on April 1 by Alla Bakina, Director of the Department of the National Payment system of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.

"I think that neither cash nor cards will disappear on the horizon of five years. The form factor may change. Not cash, of course, but virtual cards, in some other form. But the share will be redistributed over the next five years. I think that non-card instruments will continue their active growth trend both within banks and in our payment space as a whole. The maps are already slowing down a lot, but this redistribution will take place," Bakina said.
