- More than 35,000 gynecological operations were performed in Moscow without hospitalization
Many gynecological operations and diagnostic procedures in Moscow can be performed on an outpatient basis at women's health centers. Since the launch of the minimally invasive surgery program last year, more than 35,000 Muscovites have already taken advantage of this opportunity, said Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of the capital for Social Development.
"Thanks to the equipping of women's health centers with the latest equipment and the introduction of minimally invasive techniques, many gynecological operations that previously required hospitalization and long recovery are now performed on an outpatient basis. We have transferred such interventions to the "one—day surgery" format," the vice mayor said.
According to Rakova, this is how doctors perform a cervical biopsy, laser removal of tumors, and various diagnostic procedures. All of them are performed in a gentle manner: the patient comes to the center and receives the necessary help, bypassing the hospital ward.
As part of the program, in particular, office hysteroscopy is performed — a safe examination of the uterine cavity without anesthesia. The doctor sees the condition of the organ on the screen in real time. Since March last year, 1.4 thousand patients have taken advantage of this opportunity.
The new standard includes a full range of services, from consultations and examinations to support during pregnancy in a single complex. Women's health centers, modern clinics with a wide range of diagnostic capabilities, have become a key element of the standard, where women can receive obstetric and gynecological care throughout their lives, prepare for pregnancy and be monitored by a familiar doctor until the birth of a child.
