The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia has approved the first set of rules in the field of fire safety for five-storey apartment buildings using wooden structures. This was announced on April 1 by the press service of the department.

"By Order of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia No. 136 dated February 26, 2026, the Code of rules SP 549.1311500.2026 "Multi-apartment residential buildings using structures made of wood and wood materials" was approved. Fire safety requirements". The document entered into force on April 1, 2026," the agency's channel in the MAX messenger said.

The document establishes fire safety requirements for the design, construction, overhaul, reconstruction and modification of the functional purpose of buildings. The rules apply to all apartment buildings from 5 to 15 m high.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the agency's specialists conducted tests for fire resistance and fire hazard of load-bearing and enclosing structures during 2024. They also tested 10 types of materials used in evacuation, exterior walls of houses with facade systems, as well as experiments with the use of fire on fragments of three-story buildings made of wood.

The Ministry emphasizes that the adopted rules are the regulatory framework for the safe construction of wooden high-rise buildings and the development of modern technologies.
