It is important for summer residents to observe the correct timing and dosage of fertilizers so as not to harm the plants and ensure a good harvest. Nikita Chaplin, a deputy of the State Duma (United Russia faction), chairman of the union of summer residents of the Moscow region, told Izvestia about this on April 1.

"Spring feeding really plays a big role in plant development and future harvest. At the end of winter and early spring, the soil still does not have time to recover from the cold weather: nutrient reserves are depleted, and microbiological activity is still low," Chaplin noted.

According to him, the optimal time for the first top dressing is when the temperature is stable above zero, and the soil has already thawed, which usually occurs at the end of March — April. This promotes more active plant growth and lays the foundation for a good harvest. It is important to choose the right fertilizers: organic and mineral additives have different advantages and should be used depending on the crop.

"Organic fertilizers, such as humus or compost, not only saturate the soil with nutrients, but also improve its structure, make it more friable and moisture-intensive. Mineral fertilizers act faster: they provide plants with the necessary substances almost immediately, which is especially important during the period of active growth," the expert explained.

Chaplin also stressed that the key aspect is the correct dosage. Exceeding the fertilizer rate can lead to burning of plant roots or excessive foliage growth, which will negatively affect yields.

According to him, the top dressing should be balanced. Excess fertilizers can lead to bad consequences, such as excessive growth of greenery to the detriment of fruits. In addition, the expert recalled that it is important to monitor the condition of the soil: fertilizers should not be applied to frozen ground or without subsequent watering.

"Common mistakes of gardeners are feeding too early when plants are still sleeping, using undiluted organic infusions and ignoring the characteristics of crops. Careful attention to the timing, dosages and type of fertilizers will help to get a rich harvest without unnecessary hassle," concluded Chaplin.

Plant care specialist of the Profi service. On March 31, Grigory Zelentsov told <url> that the spring preparation of a suburban area requires not only harvesting and planting, but also a careful approach to the condition of the soil and plants after winter. According to the expert, it is worth starting work on the site when a stable plus temperature is established and the main snow cover is gone.
