Toyota car sales in Russia increased by 102%
In Russia, sales of new Toyota vehicles increased by 102% in February 2026. During the month, 1,975 cars were sold, which is more than two times more than in February last year, when 976,000 cars were sold. This was announced on April 1 by Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, in his Telegram channel.
The majority of Toyota cars sold in Russia (88%) were made in China, the expert noted. Russia's share of Toyota's global sales is now only a quarter of a percent (0.25%).
The analyst also pointed to weak Toyota car sales in China and a slight decrease in demand in the Japanese domestic market. Thus, Toyota's global sales in February decreased by 2.3% (to 806.9 thousand units) and in China fell by 13.9%.
Earlier, on March 12, it was reported that in the first two months of 2026, sales of global brand cars in Russia increased 2.5 times (+148%) and amounted to 24.4 thousand units. Moreover, every fifth customer chose a Chinese-built Mazda CX-5 crossover.
